Godspeed in this venture. So many of us loathe the current polarization and crave something messier and more real. Looking forward to reading more!

An ambitious and worthy project! And so hard to do. I look forward to reading — and have also been thinking I should check out this book on how liberals can communicate with conservatives: https://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Contempt-Liberals-Communicate-Across/dp/0865719179. Have you seen it?

I like this idea, Adam. I wish you the best of luck in finding people willing to have quality conversations. I bet your ability to empathise will be transformed in a year's time!

It's a worthy goal because people spend less time in disagreement with others, and it's easy to design your information intake so that you never see your ideas challenged. But without the disagreement, they never get refined and improved.

Brilliant. Glad I found this. Your approach is a valuable one. I have found my own views have changed so much over the years of hosting a podcast and delving into people’s stories. Looking forward to more.

Wow. Had no idea that this was the case even with all the endless reporting on Iraq. “A simple meeting and some cash could have prevented those revenge killing.” It’s amazing how ignorant we are about reciprocal violence even if though anthropologists have studied it for decades.

This looks really, really interesting, Adam -- excited to watch it develop and see what comes of it, especially the conversation coming up with Michael Moynihan.

The mantra is an excellent idea. I just started reading books and essays by "people who are wrong" and the feelings you describe are already making me want to to abandon my quest for greater understanding. Maybe it's the absence of an actual human to relate to... or not. But I can't imagine an actual conversation in these times .It gets too ugly--even between friends. Oh yeah... mantra...
